Why should he get punished?

Why should General William "Kip" Ward be punished for doing the same thing the Secretary of Defense and the President do?

Should military leaders be allowed to see their families and go on vacations with them?

Well technically the president is in the military as well. If you want to be technical about it. I mean we have to give him respect even though he hasn't served a day in military or has he?

You'll have to ask the president that. Some days he likes the military and some days he basically just throws us under the bus.

Is bringing family on a government paid trip wrong? No, neither is using military plane to transport them there as long as it doesn't displace the needs of the military.

Leadership is loyalty, duty, respect, selfless service, honor, integrity, personal courage. So when you take one of these things away from us you are throwing us under the bus.

The most recent example is with the Navy Seals and the president claiming that he got Bin Laden.
That is the most jack assed thing that I have probably seen him do.

The prez is the 'commander-in-chief' there are privelidges that come with the job as well as the job of the SOD, SECNAV, etc. While a general has more priveliges than say, a colonel or major, they don't have nothing near the perks of the higher-up-mucky-mucks. It's a pecking order thing.

Also remember, when the President takes his friends/family, the cost is to be paid by the President himself. It's the improper billing that got Kip in hot water. Good General, Bad Accountant.

He should get reemed a lot more because he just screwed all the rest of the Upper Leadership in the different branches. Now the Federal Government is going to have the military do 2 mountains of paperwork to just get a snickers bar and that is going to trickle down the chain.

It sucks that he is an Army General if it was the Air Force it would be just like normal business.

I believe, that if there were any breech of protocol and/or proceedure, that the charges should be exacted relative to the magnitude of the breech. The order of things must be upheld in order to
maintain the machine. Any time you start tweaking or abusing machinery that is running smoothly, negative consequences are bound to effect the operation of said machine.
