This morning I started up my computer and for apparently no reason I found myself in a infinite boot loop. I opened up the computer, jiggled some cables and blew some dust out. Still infinite boot loop. I enter the bios, and change one setting that's not even related to the startup process and boom the computer starts. If I knew nothing about computers I would have been stuck; I would have had to take the computer to a repair shop and shell out $50 for a problem that took 5 minutes to fix. I should add, this computer is 6/7 years old and running Windows 10.
I just checked and I ordered my computer January 9th 2009. Granted the only things from the original build are the case, ram, PSU, and DVD drive. MOBO- Died, using a new one Processor- Got a free upgrade HDD- Just upgraded to a newer SSD that is over rated for my board (third main hard drive for this build) Video Card- Got a upgraded one used off Ebay 2nd DVD drive- Blu-Ray Player now Audio- Asus Xonar D2X now so I can connect to my stereo
OMG! Binman rose from the dead! Welcome dude! The downfall to what Hans said: everyone and their brothers wants your tech support for free. They automatically think you'll bail them out.
Yea, seriously. I also managed to get my old router (now my parents router) to upgrade to DD-WRT today. It was stuck on a version from 2014. I had to use TFTP to flash the current version. It wasn't a big deal, but it was much easier because my dad wasn't home crying about the WiFi being down while I did it.
