I've learned at least two very important things in the past decade: 1) The best way to learn about something completely unfamiliar is dive head into it and 2) There are incredible deals on Craigslist. Fortunately I use #2 to get myself wrapped into #1 frequently. This time around, I purchased a broken electric bicycle for $140, and set out to fix it up into a nice cruiser. A low initial investment always means you can sell it later and at least recoup your expenses all while learning new skills. Before: During: After(ish): If you were to go and try to purchase a similar bike that runs, you'd likely spend at least $500, if not over $1000 in the process!
