This is all the info I have: I got a lot of dimensions from the mortal kombat cab here: http://www.jakobud.com/
I got the plexi (polycarbonate with AR) on the cp just to make sure everything fits before I do the final work on the cp.
that is ace. a big ol "Tweak3D" on the sides would be nice. what design have you come up for the lightbar?
What would you total the hours of labour at (not including research time)? And the cost of the components?
It's hard to calculate the time spent on this thing because I only get to work on it on my days off and usually one of my days off is dedicated to my wife. Total man hours probably are around 150 (a good chunk of that is from painting and finishing which I will be redoing again). I've been researching it for a couple of years with the last year involving serious reading. As far as the cost goes, probably around $2000. I good chunk of that was the tv ($400).
Damn that's a lot of money. What else did everything else cost? I didn't know wood and paint would cost so much.
lol I had the wood already which is what prompted this project really (I haven't been able to park in my garage because I had four sheets of mdf on the floor). Another $700 came from arcade parts (I could have gone much cheaper but I went all out). The rest came in the form of tools and odds and ends (paint, paint tools, etc).
damn thats alot of money. he hasnt factored in the pc yet. but thats about how much you'd spend anyways on a prebuilt cab
Progress is being made, just nothing significant. Hopefully by next week I will start the wiring. I've got my marquee light installed and temporarily working, I need to mount it to the cab still and fix some light leaking issues. These shots are just to give an idea of what the marquee will look like (brightness wise), the marquee in the pics is just some poster of similar material I got from work. The light isn't as bright as the pics make it out to be, overall I'm happy with the brightness.
I'm finally making some progress on the cp. I've got player one completely wired up and ready to go, next up is player 2 and the track ball. I've also got a torrent running for all the new roms I need (hopefully that finishes before my deadline is up).
Here is a crappy video of it in action: YouTube - mame arcade To do list: Art work (side art, marquee, cp) Wiring for auto power on with one button/switch Mounting USB powered hub Programing lights Programing auto input maps (makes the joystick act like the original arcade game, ex: 8 way or 4 way sticks) Programing and designing of frontend software Make back cover for cab wire up coin slots add coin return buttons for quarter less play mount cp securely to cp box. create power input/output receptacle
MAn that totally pwns. I wish I had the time but more importantly the vision and talent you obviously have on this project.. and it shows as Torx mentioned with the clean wiring. The details are very nice indeed. A pet-peeve of mine on any type of project is skimping on the wiring job. No issue here at all. Great job!
